School Food Program

All students in St. Mary's School are given the opportunity to participate in the Federal School Lunch Program. Students from households that meet federal income guidelines are eligible for free meals or reduced-priced lunches.

Copies of federal forms are sent home to all families on the first day of school. If you suspect you are eligible for your child to receive a free or reduced lunch, please complete the application and return it to school in a sealed envelope as soon as possible. The application will be reviewed by the prinicipal and parents will be informed in writing as to their status regarding the cost of lunch for their child/ren. All information is kept confidential.

If during the school year, any family's income is reduced and as a result the students in that family suddenly become eligible for either reduced-price or free lunches, please contact the office to request an application. If you have questions or need assistance with the form, please contact Mrs. Jadlos.

Lunch Prices:

Regular Lunch: $2.00 (Card w/20 punches = $40)

Reduced-Price Lunch: $.25 (Regular card will be punched)

Milk (only)*: $.50 (Card w/20 punches =$10)

* Milk available: 1%, fat free and low fat cholcolate.

In order to accurately expedite the collection of monies, this year St. Mary's School will be using cards for: Breakfast, Lunch and Milk. Each card will allow for 20 punches, one for each item purchased. A card which has credit for 20 regular priced lunches will cost $40, if the child receives a reduced price lunch, the card will cost $5. Those children receiving a free lunch will get the same card with nothing to indicate the status of the recipient.

There will be a separate card for Breakfat which will cost everyone $20 as St. Mary's does not participate in the Federal Breakfast Program. One last card will be for Milk only and will be sold for $10 which will allow for 20 cartons of milk.

Teachers will keep the cards in the classroom and will have them ready to be punched as each student goes through the lunch line. When a student has ony three punches left the parents will be notified that a new card should be purchased. If after three punches a card is not purchased, a charge will be applied to the family's monthly tuition statement. Delinquent charges will be addressed by Mrs. Jadlos and/or Father Doug Lucia.

Note - Students are NOT permitted to use a microwave to heat individual lunches.

Breakfast Available:

Children need to have sufficient nourishment in order to meet the demands of each school day. For various reasons, some children may not have eaten an adequate breakfast before they arrive at school. Therefore, St. Mary's School offers breakfast to any student in grades PreK - 6. The price is $1.00 for each breakfast (Card w/20 punches = $20).

Breakfast is served beginning at 7:30 AM in the cafeteria. Students are to be back in their classrooms by 7:55 AM. The classroom teacher can provide breakfast cards which can be purchased for $20, for 20 breakfasts. The classroom teacher will keep those cards to avoid losses.

If a child want to receive breakfast, he/she should tell the teacher who will then give the card to the child to be punched at the serving line.

Cards will be color coded for breakfast, lunch and milk and be kept with the classroom teachers.

NOTE: There is no expiration on a card and if lunches are left on the card at the end of the year they can roll over to the following year or a credit can be issued at that time.
