First Grade Celebrating St. Lucia Day
The First Grade students in Miss Jamie Burns class celebrated St. Lucia Day at St. Mary’s School on December 13th.
Santa Lucia was born into a wealthy family in Syracuse, Sicily, in the late 3rd century A.D. The most common story told about St Lucia is that she would secretly bring food to Christians in Rome, who lived in hiding in the catacombs under the city. She would wear candles on her head so she had both her hands free to carry things.
